Any increase in salary must be matched with increased accountability and #SkinInTheGame. We need to move away from tenure based perks to performance based promotion. This is the case in Singapore. Officials get sacked if they miss targets.

Also the principle should apply to everyone paid by the public. For example , public universities should have performance goals that benefit the public. For example, Singapore’s public universities have FDI goals.
